Eggshell No.17 is Earthborn’s paint for wood — doors, skirting, window frames, furniture, panelling and kitchen cabinets. It gives a soft, low-sheen silk finish that looks refined rather than plasticky, and it wears beautifully: washable, wipeable and scuff-resistant, so it stands up to fingerprints, muddy paws and the daily knocks of a working home.
Unlike conventional wood paints, it’s water-based, quick-drying and virtually odourless — no solvent smell filling the house for days. And because it’s flexible and breathable, it moves with the wood rather than cracking, caring for your timber for longer.
What makes it different
Eggshell No.17 has a unique formulation that is totally oil-free and contains virtually no VOCs — so no harsh solvent fumes, and a safer, healthier painting experience indoors.

The practical detail:

• Touch-dry in 1–2 hours; allow 6–12 hours between coats

Please note: Eggshell No.17 is not recommended for floors or other heavy-duty surfaces.
A few things worth knowing, so you get the best from it:
Prime bare wood first with Earthborn Multi Purpose Primer, and lightly sand before painting.
Previously painted or oil-based/gloss surfaces — sand well to a matt key, then prime with Multi Purpose Primer before overpainting.
Apply two full coats undiluted, with a light sanding between dried coats for an extra-smooth finish.
It dries fast — so work methodically and avoid over-brushing or going back over areas that have started to set, especially on large flat panels.
Don’t paint below 8°C.
Slight colour variation between batches is natural — mix tins together for a large job.
